Dude, do not touch my Walkman!
April 15th, 2010 | Posted by Drummer JohnFirst let me say that I have been denied! my mp3 player for a coupla YEARS because I left it out in the rain and a teenager is not cheap, at all. So I just listened to my playlist on the computer with my headphones. Cool. Well, seems my sons can’t keep a set of headphones for a day, so as with all other things, such as fishing poles, they use mine and break them also. I bought myself a new Walkman, I didn’t like Gunner’s iPod. I really think I would take a finger off if someone touches it, especially my kids. I forgot how much I used it to block out the worlds bullshit! I get my day on and get things done! I have to have something all the time. I turn it on and hit shuffle and Creed will come bursting through or Bone, Thugs and Harmony and it just seems to fit everytime I need it. Now I’ve got “Crossroads” by John Mayer blasting and it feels good down inside. Cleansing. Makes me chair dance, my second favorite sport. I don’t think there is a version of this song that I don’t like. It’s just too good a song to mess up. I’ll say that and someone will come along and hack it to pieces. If you’re gonna do a cover, do it right. Speaking of, I now how the very soothing Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis singing Crusin’ by Smokey Robinson. This song was sang originally by one person but hearing the way it was arranged for the movie “Duets” is one of the best remakes I have ever heard and with the twist of making it into a duo that really rocks. I have most every song on this soundtrack. Amazing composition and since it’s about Karioke, none are originals but all are damn good! If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s a must see. Story isn’t that great but the soundtrack is worth it. Oh, the soothing voice of Roy Orbison singing “Crying”. I know he looked like he had an LP melted on his head but hey, look at what Devo had on their head??!! The Glasses, that is a story for another time. The man made some of the world’s best music. I don’t care if he looked like Herman Munster, the man had serious pipes and talent. I know, I’m just too happy over having another mp3 player. You have no idea. It doesn’t matter what I am doing, even if I have it on, I can work much better. It helps file things up there I guess. Gives a rhythym to my rhyme of the day. Makes me feel like I am playing a piano because words flow out of me so much faster and easier, I clean faster and without noticing I’d even done it! Because I have a flow going. I have to flow. Interruptions and I don’t do well together, at all. I can be Thunder Bitch when my schedule is messed with. And now the world is a safer place because I have a new Sony Walkman. I didn’t like any others so I went back to the original and the sound quality is awesome! One problem. My headphones. WHAT IN THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY EARS?????? Those little round “cushioned” (my ass) spy-like bugs that are supposed to be speakers that I have to ram in my head because there is NO way they will stay in my ear. I guess it’s just my ear. I haven’t tried the ones with the tips that go down in the ear. I can inflict enough damage with my volume control, having those shoved into my skull would be just too painful. I, personally, think that these should be lawful to use during work. It would keep a lot of stress down and increase production, you would have happier employees! Ya think I don’t love working in writing about MUSIC! Listening to music as a job, ha! Sorry Courtney, lol, I just don’t feel like it’s a JOB cause it’s so much fun and helps me get through my day and I never thought I’d say that about a job! My walkman aslo inspires alot of my writing. It gives me ideas on music or something to look up. It gives me good thoughts that I blog in my personal blog. How does anyone live without their mp3’s or 4’s!!!! A world without music would be like seeing the heart of a child break into. Too sad of a world for me to be in. Shuffle advantages: I never know what’s coming up and I don’t like many suprises but love it with music! Life has a soundtrack. Another advantage is that you don’t get bored with listening to 16 songs in a row from the same artist. I do like to sometimes and I’ll change my settings, but shuffle is still my fav! The final and most important feature of these little life savers? The skip and back buttons! Now go get yours and update the soundtrack to your life!! Peace and good tunes to you…. Jen;} “Heavier Things” rolls around again and the song “Daughters” is going through my mind at the same time my bestfriend is venting to me about her mom, as I will with her probably tomorrow. How weird is that? Does my Walkman now me that well? I connect with my devices that are extensions of my life on this vast wilderness of internet. If you work on one, you know what I’m saying. You literally live on it. As this leaves, Delta Dawn by a 13 yr old Tanya Tucker in the 70’s belts out a song way older than her days on this earth for sure. About a woman my age. As a kid I knew and sang every song on the radio and this was one of them. I actually sang this acapella in my new school’s talent show. I got third place;} I had only got there that morning and they asked me if I wanted to do something so I did it on the fly.
