Joy and Jayson's bustin out!!
April 11th, 2010 | Posted by Drummer JohnWe are out of the closet! Yup, it’s official, we are bringing some awesome! folk and indie to our culture and making an impact on first sight and sound! I am managing Joy and Jayson’s career and I want to thank them for choosing me and trusting me. I don’t put my name on something I don’t think is gonna be great, I could be wrong but I’ve done pretty good so far;} After the show today, I am sure of it!!
The setting for today’s gig was a Fish Fry Fundraiser for the Perry County, AR Volunteer Fire Department. We totally support our volunteers in everyway and want to give back to them for their commitment in keeping us safe and from losing lives and homes, no more noble deed and it was a pleasure for us to play for them and help bring people out to raise money to keep their equipment working properly.
Before we left we were approached and asked to do another gig. Actually we were asked how much we charged, ;} , for a set and I took his info and told him we would book it and talk about the other later so one good deed begets us a fan base already and it won’t be long before EVERYONE is gonna know Joy and Jayson’s Soulful Sound!
I don’t know if I had mentioned it ever before but I collaborate with other bands on my lyrics and them writing the music. I wrote a song, blues, and had my friend and musician, Jan La’nell from Down in a Hole. I chose Joy and Jayson to send it to after I befriended them on MySpace while doing reviews there. Joy’s voice is a life giving elixir that flows so easily from her! There is nothing, nothing that she cannot sing and sing it well, some even better than the originals when they are doing a cover. Their original’s are awesome and written totally by them save the song “The Love of That Man”. The set was a mixture of original’s like You and then into Drift Away, which had everyone singing along.
The raw talent they possess comes out with every drop of sweat and every breath in them. Another band was supposed to show but didn’t so Joy and Jayson played about 2 1/2 hrs with little breaks. It was awesome from beginning to end. There were actually some exchange students there who were singing along with some of the covers, they could barely speak English but came over and told us how much they enjoyed the show. Of course they fed us, very well!! They worked up an appetite for sure!
