My musical purgatory
February 7th, 2010 | Posted by Drummer JohnWhen the Steamroller team contacted me about blogging on their site I thought, “Awesome, another way to force my opinions on those who could care less about what I have to say”. Do I think this is Ideal? You bet! But sadly I am a bit out of the loop, (the last thing I bought was a disc by jazzer Tommy Flanagan recorded in 1983, which, ironically, was probably one of his latest). Most of what I get to listen to these days is whatever my 4 year old doesn’t make me turn off, and (if I can get away with it) whatever is playing on the Fox or CBC while we’re on our way to the park.
So here’s the deal, I’m counting on you to hit me up and tell me what’s floatin’ yer boat. Tell me which bands you like, and I’ll listen to see why you like ‘em. Tell me about your band, and what it is your group is trying to do. Turn me on to cool record shops, or even music themed eateries: whatever as long as it swings, rocks, grooves, rhymes, slams…
You can check out my old band on Myspace. We were UNIT29. Or if you wanna find me it’s Dean Pawliw, also on Myspace. Feel free to tell me to go suck an egg if you feel so inclined, ‘cuz I just delete those messages anyways. So, here I sit awaiting your ear candy in my own special musical purgatory.
Dean Pawliw.
